The Open Group

The Open Group (TOG) has created an OWL-DL Ontology based on the OASIS SOA RM.

This page is an entry point to a representation of TOG's Service Oriented Architecture (TOGSOA) Ontology, using the Semantic Mediawiki (SMW).

The structure of TOGSOA Ontology has been manually represented and recreated in this SMW, using the following basic approach:

  • Category (Subject) Link Property (Predicate) Category (Object)

TOGSOA in SMW

Use the link below to browse the TOGSOA OWL Classes, which are represented as Categories in SMW.

Approach/Methodology

  1. Load TOGSOA in Swoop Ontology Browser/Editor
    • Launch Swoop via JNLP (you need to have Java Web Start installed) or download it from Google Code and build it.
  2. Create SMW Categories for TOGSOA OWL Classes
  3. Create SMW 'property' links for all the TOGSOA OWL defined ObjectProperties, where each Category is the Subject/Domain and/or Object/Range
    • That's where I am right at the moment, 9/14/08 pm.

TOGSOA in SMW To Do

  1. Add the properties defined in TOGSOA as properties of Category links
  2. Populate some example instances (articles) of Categories, such as a myService page with Category:Service and example content
  3. Create/enable TOGSOA SMW KB as a SPARQL endpoint
  4. Create 'Concept' articles that query the TOGSOA SMW KB like a SPARQL endpoint and compare with above
  5. Export Category and Individual articles and see how accessible the content is
  6. Try out an import of TOGSOA.owl and compare/contrast manually created structures with those auto-generated by import
  7. Reexamine the relationship between MIT Simile's Exhibit, a GoogleDoc Spreadsheet, and SMW
    • (see this example for some idea of what I'm thinking here...)
